Tracking your pain and communicating it to your providers can be very challenging, yet this pain scale from the VA is better than most and might be helpful as you try to figure out how to determine how bad your pain is and to track how it changes over time:

Cozy video games:
Cozy games can be a great distraction technique when in pain as they are generally slower paced, not stressful, and have beautiful imagery with gameplay that is engaging enough to distract, but not so challenging that you are unable to play when struggling. Research suggests that engaging your brain in an alternative activity is an effective way to temporarily decrease pain, and everyone with pain knows that even making a tiny dent in it or getting a small break can feel like a big deal. Here are a few great cozy games to get you started:

Mindfulness:
Mindfulness can feel cheesy and it is definitely pushed in problematic and inappropriate ways, but, as annoying as it is, it actually works (to some degree)! Here’s an exercise I find helps the most people and it comes from a type of therapy known as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Leaves on a stream is a great evidence-based mindfulness exercise and here are multiple versions at varying lengths:

COVID, long COVID, & Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME or ME/CFS)

Unfortunately, the COVID pandemic never ended. Covid is still spreading at high rates at multiple points most years. The good news is that we have a better understanding of the virus now than we did at the start and we have great tools to mitigate spread. The bad news is that through the more recent research, we’ve uncovered that COVID is not a harmless disease, and even if death isn’t a primary risk for most people, long COVID and other longer term symptoms and conditions are a substantial concern. Long COVID rates range from 1.7-77.7%. Risk of LC increases with each infection. COVID has been found to be a multisystemic neurovascular condition that has the potential and ability to damage almost if not all organs in the body, including the brain. Disabled and chronically ill people are unfortunately more likely to experience these effects and the on-going pandemic continues to disproportionately impact disabled and BIPOC communities.

From wildfires to climate disasters to industrial accidents to disease spread to home repairs, it’s important to consider your respiratory health. Elastomeric respirators are surprisingly comfortable, can be purchased relatively cheaply, and are good to have on hand in the event that you need them. That said, purchasing them and figuring out what filter you might need can be overwhelming. Here’s a document from 3M that nicely lays out what types of filters you need for various pollutants:
